West Lake Lotus Flower Viewing One Day Tour
Visit Hangzhou in July and you will be spoilt for choice. In just one day, a tour around West Lake can fulfill your curiosity with things, such as sightseeing, reminiscing history, delving into culture as well as photography. Also, there are a few reasonable-priced and comfortable youth hostels around which, priced at around one hundred RMB, are not to be dismissed.

Day 1
Yue Fei Mausoleum→Quyuan Garden→Su Causeway→Lingyin Temple
In the morning, we will start our tour by going to pray at Yue Fei Mausoleum in Beishan Road. The admission fee for the mausoleum is 25 RMB. Yue Fei Mausoleum is dedicated to the noted patriot of the Southern Song Dynasty, General Yue Fei. If you are into history, then a visit to the mausoleum is an ideal way to get to know about Hangzhou. Also, in the mausoleum, one can admire historical architecture. Yue Fei Mausoleum was originally constructed in 1221, the 14th reign of Song Ningzong of the Southern Song Dynasty, and although it has undergone innovations, it still maintains its original style.

Facing Yue Fei Mausoleum is the Breeze-ruffled Lotus at Quyuan Garden which is a historical, scenic and free garden, and the best place in Hangzhou to view lotus flowers.

Getting out of the garden from one of its side entrances, you will then see Su Causeway where you can admire the many picturesque views of West Lake. When night falls, you will be able to see the “The Most Memorable is Hangzhou” performance, directed by Zhang Yimou and once performed for G20 leaders.

At noon, hail a taxi to Hubin Road which roughly costs 15 RMB and here you will find a variety of restaurants, including Hangzhou’s famous Grandma’s Home. If you have enough time, then don’t miss the opportunity to dine in this extremely popular venue, which usually requires one hour to get a table; you can also try Hangzhou Restaurant for authentic Hangzhou dishes.

In the afternoon, you can head to Lingyin Temple by bus No. 7 or taxi. The admission fee of Lingyin Temple consists of two parts, 45 RMB for Feilai Peak Scenic Area and 30 RMB for Lingyin Temple. Lingyin Temple was originally constructed in 326 during Dongjin Dynasty and is one of the Top Ten Buddhist Temples in China.

During his official inspection tour to the southern China, Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty visited Lingyin Temple for four times and inscribed the name “Yunlin (Cloud and Forest) Buddhist Temple”.
