An Intelligent Toilet in Hangzhou Railway Station 2018-12-05
Have you ever faced the embarrassing moments of, while in a densely-populated railway station toilet, having to drag suitcases and knock on the doors of each toilet cubicle in order to find an empty one? This circumstance can now be avoided in Hangzhou Railway Station, because an intelligent toilet has come into service.

Red for occupied and green for empty

The intelligent toilet has at its entrance a giant electronic screen - this is the “intelligent toilet cubicle guiding system”, from which those who are “in need” get to know the numbers of empty toilet cubicles thus making their journeys all-the-more satisfying.

After experiencing this new system, Miss Zhao said delightedly, “this is the most amazing public lavatory I have ever experienced. Lights with different colors show the circumstances of each toilet cubicle in a direct manner, red for occupied and green for empty”.

After washing hands, paper towels are omitted from an intelligent paper box by a face recognition system and after receiving one towel, one should wait at least ten minutes for another. “The intelligent paper box is set for the sake of avoiding waste”, a member of staff responsible for cleaning the public lavatories said, “up until now, by keeping clean, pretty and advanced, the intelligent toilet has received numerous compliments from passengers.”

A third toilet room and four “tidal toilet cubicles”

The intelligent toilet has been improving its service quality. In consideration of families with babies and children, the former disabled toilet has been updated to a third toilet room in providing more convenient and personalized services, in which despite the toilet cubicles with handrails for the physically- challenged, new facilities such as baby chairs, child sinks and pedestal pans are provided.

At the same time, the “tidal toilet cubicles” have been introduced, “in addition to the standard female and male cubicles, four “tidal toilet cubicles” have been created to cater for emergencies, which means once a toilet room is full, the “tidal toilet cubicles” will be provided in time to prevent passengers from waiting in line.
