Emperor Gaozong of Song, whose personal name is Zhao Gou, is the tenth emperor of the Song Dynasty and the founder of the Southern Song Dynasty. He used to be a regional lord and fled south to Lin’an, the present Hangzhou city after the two emperors of the Song Dynasty were captured by invaders and reestablished what is now known as the Southern Song Dynasty. Emperor Gaozong of Song is excellent in poem composing and calligraphy and had significant influence on other Chinese poets. He died at the age of 81 and was one of the few longevous emperors in Chinese history.
Praised as “the kidneys of the Earth”, wetlands are both valuable natural resources and important ecosystems. Recently, the second list of Wetlands of Provincial Importance was announced and in total there are 48 among which three are in Hangzhou.
