Qian Liu is one of the famous natives of Hangzhou and the founder of the Wuyue Kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He ruled roughly present Zhejiang Province as a king for 41 years. During his period, Wuyue prospered economically and lead the rest of Jiangnan area in such businesses as fishery, salt trading and silk production. This land of happiness ruled by King Qian Liu was the cradle of a wealth of talents who in turn contributed to its unique regional culture that continues to this day. Besides developing the region’s agriculture, expanding Hangzhou and building seawalls, King Qian Liu also built an embankment against the furious Qiantang River Tidal bore, to which an interesting folklore has been devoted.
Praised as “the kidneys of the Earth”, wetlands are both valuable natural resources and important ecosystems. Recently, the second list of Wetlands of Provincial Importance was announced and in total there are 48 among which three are in Hangzhou.

With six themes to choose from such as child-parent, flower viewing, games and sports, spring couldn’t be livelier.
