Prof. Klimt was a world-famous Russian painter born in Uzbekistan in 1946. Graduating in 1976 from the Repin Art Institute (aka the Russian Academy of arts) – one of Top Four Art Palaces in the world, he has been teaching in the university ever since. For his great achievement in painting, he enjoyed high prestige in the field, being the head of Printmaking Department of the Repin Art Institute, the member of Russian Union of Artists and Meritorious Artist of Russia etc. Since 1976, his works have been displayed in many international art exhibitions and he has held individual painting exhibitions in many countries such as Russia, South Korea, Romania, France and China etc. and his works has been one of the favourites of museums and private art collectors in Russia, England, German, Denmark, Israel, Norway, Romania, American, Czech Republic, Sweden, North Korea and China etc.
In 2012, from August to October, he was on a special trip to Hangzhou. During the period, he created the marvelous oil paintings of Top Ten Views of West Lake after a month devoting to understand West Lake, do survey and sketch. The oil paintings perfectly reflect the unique characteristics of West Lake by portraying the interaction of nature and human beings, culture and scenic spots. In addition, the ten oil paintings are characterized by peaceful, elegant and poetic elements with vibrant colors, providing viewer a visual feast.
Praised as “the kidneys of the Earth”, wetlands are both valuable natural resources and important ecosystems. Recently, the second list of Wetlands of Provincial Importance was announced and in total there are 48 among which three are in Hangzhou.
Spring is here and so is the 2017 “Intoxicating Springtime” – Hangzhou Outdoor Leisure Season which, in the following three months, will provide the city with over 50 springtime outdoor experiences and tour itineraries. With six themes to choose from such as child-parent, flower viewing, games and sports, spring couldn’t be livelier.
