Known as the house of silk, Hangzhou city has also sewn the seed in being recognised as a centre for arts and crafts. With a number of arty locations scattered around town it is actually Qiaoxi Historic Block, Hangzhou’s premier craft venue, that has weaved itself into the hearts and hands of the locals and the millions of tourists that visit each year.

With six museums and each showcasing a number of Hangzhou’s finest crafts you will be spoilt for choice with the number of crafty activities to get stuck into. From threading silk onto umbrellas and painting fans to paper-cutting and calligraphy, any one of the museums sat along the banks of the Grand Canal is sure to get your creative juices flowing.
