The city, which is described by Marco Polo as "the most beautiful and luxurious city in the world", has fascinated countless people since ancient times. Today, Hangzhou is still the first choice of travel destination for many people. So how can we do all the things and visit all the places we need to fully appreciate the beauty of Hangzhou? DAY 1 The Charm of Water Town of Old Hangzhou
Hangzhou is rich in history and culture. The first stop in Hangzhou is naturally to experience the charm of old Hangzhou. Compared with Hefang Street with a strong commercial atmosphere, Xiaohe Straight Street and Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Block are more worth visiting.
Xiaohe Straight Street
Most of the buildings in Xiaohe Straight Street were built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic Period of China. The overall layout is one river and two streets, with shops on the first floor and residences on the second floor.
Qiaoxi Historic and Cultural District
The Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Block is very close to Xiaohe Straight Street and can be reached in about 20 minutes. Compared with Xiaohe Straight Street, the commercial atmosphere here is slightly heavier. After a short stroll, you can take a water bus from the wharf of Gongchen Bridge (拱墅桥) to the wharf of Wulin Gate (武林门) to enjoy the unique view of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal at dusk on this most classic waterway.
The current Hefang Street, located at the foot of Wushan Hill, is part of the Hefang Street of the Qing Dynasty, which has been the commercial center of Hangzhou since ancient times. In October 2002, the reconstructed Hefang street was officially opened, which restored its features in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic Period of China, and maintained its historical authenticity, cultural continuity and overall integrity. Hefang Street is one of the streets that best reflect the historical and cultural features of Hangzhou.
Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street
The Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street is a main street laid by Lin'an (the then Hangzhou) in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is said that a total of more than 10,000 stone slabs have been used to lay the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street. At night, the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Street presents its unique flavor, when you can do some shopping at the roadside shops and experience the customs of Hangzhou.
DAY 2 Explore the Beauty of the West Lake
Get up early, go to Xinfeng Snack (新丰小吃) or Zhi Wei Guan (知味观) to eat a typical Hangzhou steamed bun to start your day full of energy.
Zhejiang Provincial Museum
Zhejiang Provincial Museum was founded in 1929, formerly known as Zhejiang Provincial West Lake Museum, which is the largest comprehensive cultural museum in Zhejiang Province integrating collection, display and research. The museum has a collection of more than 100,000 cultural relics.
It is worth mentioning that the architectural style of the museum is full of the characteristics of Jiangnan. The single building and the connecting corridor are combined to form a unique pattern of "the museum is hidden in a garden and the garden is part of the museum". It is highly recommended to visit here.
The West Lake is relatively large, and it is estimated that it will take a whole day to tour if on foot. There are both sightseeing boats and rowing boats in the West Lake. It is recommended to take a rowing boat. The boatman will introduce you to the history and must-have of the West Lake during the boating process.
Leifeng Pagoda is also one of the important scenic spots of West Lake. The old Leifeng Pagoda collapsed in 1924, and the present one was rebuilt in 2002.

△The Rebuilt Leifeng Pagoda
The new pagoda was built on the site of the old pagoda, retaining the pavilion structure before the old pagoda was burned down. The new pagoda completely adopted the style, design and size of the renovated pagoda in the early years of the Southern Song Dynasty. In the pagoda, you can also see the relief of "the legend of the White Snake", which is very delicate.
The West Lake at night has not only a music fountain, but also the newly-opened Hubin (lakeside) Pedestrian Street (Block).
The Hubin Pedestrian Street (Block) is adjacent to the West Lake. On this road, you can find a lot of West Lake elements. There are not only many well-known brand flagship stores, but also many old brands.
DAY 3 Visiting Jigong's Monastery
Lingyin Temple is located in the Feilai Peak Scenic Area. It is one of the earliest Buddhist monasteries in China and one of the top ten ancient temples in China. It retains many exquisite cultural relics of various dynasties. It is the place where Jigong became a monk. It is said that the prayers are very effective, so the pilgrims who come to worship Buddha every day are constantly coming.
Hangzhou, the ancient capital of the millennium, still has a lot of beauty waiting for us to discover. If we must make a summary of this trip to Hangzhou, it must be "three days is not enough."
Looking forward to the next encounter with Hangzhou
