New Hotels Nestled in Hangzhou 2017-06-27
As a world-famous tourist city it’s no surprise that Hangzhou’s hotel industry is thriving. There are hundreds of high-quality hotels in Hangzhou all of which range from three to five-star. A majority of the renowned five-star ones are located around the West Lake Scenic Area and there are even budget hotels nestled nearby too.

Just recently a number of new hotels have popped up and whilst they may vary in style what they all aim to offer guests is the most comfortable stay in town.

Che'fle Canal Hotel



Che’fle Canal Hotel, newly opened on 1 December 2015, is located in the Grand Canal area. It is a boutique hotel with an excellent location offering guests attractions such as Xiangji Temple and Fuyicang. Housed inside a historical and cultural conservation architectural complex, the hotel in the past was the former National Silk Warehouse. The area around the hotel forms the essential part of Dadou Road Historical and Cultural Block.



Through its exquisite design the 11 buildings have been transformed into a boutique hotel with deep cultural connotations which perfectly incorporate the surrounding canal landscape.

In total there are 140 guest rooms which include luxury rooms, supreme rooms and canal suites. There is a book reading hall in the lobby and the buffet restaurant is open throughout the day.

Besides the conference room and meeting rooms there is also an indoor sea-water swimming pool. Other facilities include a Thai spa, fitness club, and yoga classes.

Midtown Shangri-la Hangzhou



Newly opened on 12 March 2016 Midtown Shangri-la Hangzhou is the second Shangri-la hotel in the city and Asia’s flagship hotel. Just a stone’s throw away from the West Lake the Shangri-la Hotel is advantageously located and altogether offers 417 guestrooms and suites and multiple dining choices. Located in Xiacheng District, at the heart of Hangzhou’s downtown, the Shangri-la is part of the Kerry Center complex which also includes office towers, shopping malls and apartments.



It is an ideal choice for business travelers and holiday makers as it only takes 10 minutes to drive to the nearest railway station and 35 minutes to the airport. After the convenient airport / railway station transfer and a quick check in you can then enjoy your spacious and luxurious room. Rooms in the hotel start from 45 square meters and every one features a modern interior design. From the windows you can enjoy enchanting views of elegant gardens and the city’s most famous West Lake.

For dining you can either choose the Central Market on the first floor where various European and Asian dishes are served, or the Midtown Brewery to sample a variety of beers whilst watching live shows by DJ and bands. Chengzhong Canteen is the hotel’s Chinese restaurant and where you can taste both local dishes and Cantonese Cuisine.

The fitness and entertainment facilities include gym, indoor swimming pool, massage bath, steamed bath and sauna. CHI Luxury Spa offers luxury spa treatments. The hotel also has a banquet hall accommodating up to 1100 guests and nine small multi-function rooms are also provided.


Nook Hotel Hangzhou



Nook Hotel Hangzhou opened on 1 March 2016 and is located at the Xixi Wetland area. Nook Hotel belongs to the Zhejiang University Xinyu Properties Group and enjoys an excellent location near the Yuquan Campus of Zhejiang University. The hotel is surrounded by many types of restaurants and opposite the hotel there is the Xixi Tour Trail.


As a city hotel, Nook Hotel offers fashionable designs and abundant sunlight. The hotel is equipped with luxurious bathrooms and is of the highest quality within the Xixi Wetland and Lingyin Temple area.

Hangzhou, Soaked in Traditional Chinese Medicine2017-11-21
Traditional Chinese medicine has a time-honored history. As early as ancient times, through the process of struggling with nature, traditional Chinese medicine was created. When searching for food, it was discovered that plants could relieve symptoms, which is the origins of traditional Chinese medicine; hot rocks or sand and earth wrapped up with furs or tree barks eased pain when warming oneself by a fire, which is how moxibustion came into being. It is also during the process of producing tools, that the ancient Chinese discovered the stabbing of some parts of the body can ease the pain of some other parts of the body, and that is how acupuncture come into being.
