Hangzhou, reputed as “Food Paradise”, is home to a number of long-standing traditional restaurants such as Lou Wai Lou, Zhi Wei Guang and Grandma’s Kitchen (which opened its first branch in America last year) as well as a considerable amount of new and unique ones. Varne Buffet



Varne Buffet, opened 20 May 2016, is the first Underwater Buffet in Hangzhou and covers an area of 2600 sq m with 500 dining seats. The highlight of the restaurant is its giant column-shaped “underwater theater” which offers people a 360 degree view of the mysterious sea. 


Before reaching the restaurant people pass an “underwater tunnel” where stairs, climbing to the second floor, are decorated with blue lights and sea plants mimicking that of a seabed. Upon arrival at the second floor what greets you is a giant column-shaped tank with a diameter of 9 meters, positioning you instantly in the magical world of sea. The giant tank boasts over a thousand marine creatures such as sea turtles and little sharks and in addition to these water lovers are a number of synchronized swimming athletes dressed like mermaids. With an impressive and extensive menu and entertainment second to none you will be glad you dived into this mouth-watering restaurant.

Waterlight Court

Qianba Okinawa Restaurant



As the first Okinawa food restaurant in Hangzhou, this newly opened restaurant enjoys a very central location only a few steps away from the bustling West Lake. Compared to other Japanese foods Okinawa style cuisine mainly consists of seafood.

Hangzhou, Soaked in Traditional Chinese Medicine2017-11-21
Traditional Chinese medicine has a time-honored history. As early as ancient times, through the process of struggling with nature, traditional Chinese medicine was created. When searching for food, it was discovered that plants could relieve symptoms, which is the origins of traditional Chinese medicine; hot rocks or sand and earth wrapped up with furs or tree barks eased pain when warming oneself by a fire, which is how moxibustion came into being. It is also during the process of producing tools, that the ancient Chinese discovered the stabbing of some parts of the body can ease the pain of some other parts of the body, and that is how acupuncture come into being.
