A Guide for Flower Lovers 2017-06-27
Plum blossoms are drawing crowds to Hangzhou Botanic Garden, Gushan Island in the West Lake, Xixi Wetlands and Chaoshan Scenic Area.


After the plum, peach, cherry, tulip and azalea will come into bloom one by one, turning many gardens and parks into a paradise for flower lovers.

 

peach-blossomsPeach blossoms can be found around the West Lake, in Hangzhou Botanic Garden and in Gaoting Mountain north of the city.


The West Lake scenic spot called Orioles Singing in the Willows as well as Wushan Square, Hupao Road, Yanggong Causeway, Santai Hill, Maojiabu and Taiziwan are popular venues to see cherry blossoms.

Taiziwan is a park that holds the tulip show every year in March and April. In late April, people go to Gushan Island, Lingyin Temple, Hangzhou Botanic Garden and Wansong Academy to appreciate azalea flowers.


Summer is the flowering season of lotuses and water lilies. They are best viewed in the West Lake area, while Hangzhou Flower Nursery on Xishan Road is the place to admire colorful Chinese roses.


In Autumn, osmanthus and chrysanthemum come into bloom everywhere in the city, but the best places to enjoy the sweet fragrance of osmanthus flowers are Hangzhou Botanic Garden, Children’s Park, Meijiawu, Lingyin Temple, Li’an Temple and Yuhuangshan, while the botanic garden, Hangzhou Flower Nursery, and Jiangyangfan Park have the best chrysanthemum displays.

Traditional Chinese medicine has a time-honored history. As early as ancient times, through the process of struggling with nature, traditional Chinese medicine was created. When searching for food, it was discovered that plants could relieve symptoms, which is the origins of traditional Chinese medicine; hot rocks or sand and earth wrapped up with furs or tree barks eased pain when warming oneself by a fire, which is how moxibustion came into being. It is also during the process of producing tools, that the ancient Chinese discovered the stabbing of some parts of the body can ease the pain of some other parts of the body, and that is how acupuncture come into being.
