Traditional Chinese Medicine – The Root to Keeping Healthy 2017-06-27
In China it is believed that the cold weather is the best time in which to have tonics - as the metabolism is low which, in turn, helps the absorption of nutrition.

Among all of the tonics the paste is recognized as the best and for those who do not know, Chinese paste is a ready-made medicine made of extracts from over 10 kinds of medicinal substances and it is of high nutritional value and can be used to prevent and cure diseases.

Following the previous 12 winters and as expected, the Fang Hui Chun Tang Paste Festival will again meet you in the city’s seven pharmacies of Fang Hui Chun Tang in November. Originally started in 1649 Fang Hui Chun Tang is now a household name and currently has seven pharmacies in town. It enjoys a high reputation just as Hu Qing Yu Tang and Zhang Tong Tai do and throughout its history the pharmacy follows the business doctrine that ‘It’s alright to make profit, but despicable to sell poor-quality products’ which is what keeps it going from strength to strength.

Paste has a reputation for helping people to stay healthy and it is known for increasing human immunity and prolonging one’s life, however such effects can really only been achieved with the right paste. During this year’s paste festival, there will be over 300 veteran Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors at your service. These doctors, located in the seven pharmacies of Fang Hui Chun Tang, are without doubt the true experts in TCM. They will assess your body condition through TCM methods by taking your pulse and then prescribing you the right paste.

The paste made in Fang Hui Chun Tang not only uses only high quality substances but it is unique in its preparation techniques which were, last year, inscribed into the National-level Intangible Cultural Heritage. For example the paste containing sesame and walnuts donkey-hide gelatin is brewed one kilogram by one kilogram in small pots by pharmaceutical workers in order to bring out the best medicinal value and keep its taste.

You could say that Hangzhou paste works wonders in winter.

Qiantang River is the largest river in Zhejiang Province and empties itself into the Eastern China sea through Hangzhou Bay. The Qiangtang River tidal bore is a world-renowned spectacle and is reputed as the "No. 1 Tidal Bore in the World". The Qiantang River tidal bore, often reaching heights of three meters, results from the gravitational forces and the rotation of the earth, and the fact that Hangzhou Bay is shaped like a trumpet.
