It is during autumn, when Hangzhou is pervaded with the fragrance of osmanthus, that the much-anticipated Hangzhou One + Art Festival will unveil its charm in the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum. During the festival, which has been attracting crowds annually since 2012, the love for art is ignited and like the season's fragrant osmanthus flowers, the art displayed here is colorfully collected and aesthetically spread out for all to see.
On Sep. 26 the 4th Hangzhou One+Art Festival will take place in which five grand exhibitions will proudly be displayed, all of which are free of charge. So if you are an art lover or simply want to heighten your artistic senses then this is certainly the scene to be seen.
Exhibition of Excellent Works by Teachers from Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art Institute of China Academy of Art Time: 09:00 to 17:30 from Sep. 26 to Oct. 7 Venue: Hangzhou Kuaiyi Space (杭州快意空间) Add: No. 334, Xiaohe Road (小河路334号) Info: This exhibition gathers a large number of works from renowned painters and calligraphists currently teaching at the China Academy of Art, the most influential academy of fine arts in China. It is the first time for all teachers to show their works in public after the Chinese painting and calligraphy departments of the academy merged. Both of these departments are recognized as the oldest and most influential in China’s artistic circles and indicate the highest academic level of the academy.
The 4th National Joint Exhibition by Nine Cities Time: 09:00 -17:30 from Sep. 26 to Oct. 7 Venue: Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum Add: No. 336, Xiaohe Road (小河路336号) Info: The ‘Joint Exhibition by Nine Cities’ has been held in Hangzhou four times in a row and following the previous years’ practice, this year’s exhibition also consists of two sections: excellent works by renowned artists and works by the most popular artists.
The 6th Hangzhou Contemporary Ceramics Exhibition Time: 09:00 -17:30 from Sep. 26 to Oct. 7 Venue: Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum Info: This exhibition has always been the most favored of the festival andthis year’s focuses on house-hold ceramics such as tea sets, censer burners and ornaments.
Ink Wash Painting Exhibition Time: 09:00 - 17:30 from Sep. 26 to Oct. 7 Venue: Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum Info: This exhibition features ink wash paintings by seventeen Xi’an artists who are widely-known for their insistent pursuit of perfecting traditional Chinese art, which is well demonstrated in their works. Their perfected pieces depict the world in today’s youthful eyes and not only cover traditional themes such as mountains, waterscapes and birds but also modern day ones such as dolls and urban life. Zhejiang Chinese Painting Invitation Exhibition Time: 9:00 am to 17:30 from Sep. 26 to Oct. 7 Venue: Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum Info: This exhibition is themed on ‘The Beauty of Hangzhou’ and covers a number of genres such as mountain and waterscapes, figures, flowers and birds.
Praised as “the kidneys of the Earth”, wetlands are both valuable natural resources and important ecosystems. Recently, the second list of Wetlands of Provincial Importance was announced and in total there are 48 among which three are in Hangzhou.
Spring is here and so is the 2017 “Intoxicating Springtime” – Hangzhou Outdoor Leisure Season which, in the following three months, will provide the city with over 50 springtime outdoor experiences and tour itineraries. With six themes to choose from such as child-parent, flower viewing, games and sports, spring couldn’t be livelier.
