A Bite of Hangzhou at the Lake 2017-06-27
West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an enduring testament to the possibility of harmony between nature’s will and artificial might. Attracting a constant stream of visitors from across the globe to come here to soak in its picture perfect scenery, abundant historical relics and touching legends, the area is also home to a number of restaurants and eateries. These restaurants are of a unique style and specialize in different cuisines; however they all, without exception, make the best of the scenery to offer customers a treat that is pleasing to both the eyes and taste buds.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Garden Restaurant (春夏秋冬花园餐厅)

Situated in a deep valley and next to a mountain with pleasant green tea bushes, the restaurant really deserves the tag of ‘garden restaurant’. The views from here are fantastic and on sunny days, one can dine outside in open air, breathing in fresh air and enjoying the picturesque view. The decorations inside are of ancient Chinese style. Their tasty dishes are all prepared from the freshest ingredients and are worth the price. After the meal, you can also have a cup of tea and play games with your friends. Lovely!

7080 Courtyard Restaurant (7080庭院餐厅)

Located on the very posh Nanshan Road, 30 meters from “Orioles Singing in the Willows” (one of “Top Ten Views of West Lake”), the restaurant has a perfect location. Although the lot is right beside the road, the restaurant, surrounded by tall green trees, still manages to provide a serene dining environment for its customers. The restaurant has a retro ambience, with waiters donning student uniforms. The open-air dining hall on the second floor is very stylishly decorated and the dishes are enjoyable too. The desserts, including the bread pudding, are highly recommended.

The location of West Lake Spring is not bad, with West Lake as its background and the China Academy of Art right across the road. Different from abovementioned restaurants, this restaurant features Cantonese Cuisine and boasts of some fantastic dim sum of a number of varieties and flavors. Recommended dim sums include the Crispy Durian Cake, Mango Pudding and Shrimp Dumpling.
