Ever since the first Disney Park opened in California in 1955, the brand has enjoyed a reputation of being one of the happiest places in the world. Now people in Hangzhou can join in on the fun, with the Shanghai Disney Resort opening its gates to the public in the spring of 2016. Although the opening is months away, there are still many things worth mentioning in advance about this exciting new addition to the region.
The Shanghai Disney Resort is the very first resort in China mainland and the Disneyland Park inside is the sixth Disney theme park in the world. The Resort at the time of the opening will include one theme park, two theme hotels – Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel, and six themed areas – Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Treasure Cove and Adventure Isle. Among them, the iconic ‘Enchanted Storybook Castle’ inside Fantasyland will be the tallest, largest and most interactive castle at any Disney theme park and will also be the very first castle in a Disney theme park that represents all the Disney princesses. In addition, the ‘TRON Lightcycle Power Run’ inside Tomorrowland, with a twisting, turning track, high speeds, rich storytelling and a breathtaking view of Shanghai Disneyland, promises to be one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park on the planet.
Besides showcasing the best of Disneyland, Chinese elements have been incorporated in the architecture of the ‘Disney Town’ and ‘Wishing Star Park’ to present China’s incredibly rich heritage. Shikumen (Stone Warehouse Gate), a traditional Shanghai architectural style combining Western and Chinese elements, will be employed to build a comprehensive shopping, dining and entertainment experience with a distinct local flavor. Inside the town, Chinese zodiac’s animal representations are painted on the walls to be appreciated by visitors. The town is located outside the park and people can access it without buying Disneyland tickets of. If tired, one can also visit ‘Wishing Star Park’ for a peaceful view of greenery and the glittering Wishing Star Lake.
To get to the Shanghai Disney Resort, one can take the bullet train to Shanghai Hongqiao (上海虹桥) railway station and transfer to No. 2 subway till the stop of Chuansha (川沙站) in the railway station. The whole journey takes little more than one hour. If you don’t want to miss the float parade and the romantic fireworks at night, then a night spent in one of the theme parks will be worth every penny spent.

In order to improve the high-speed railway connection system and promote the construction of scenic areas in the whole region, Qiandao Lake opened its direct tourist buses to rural scenic areas on July 1. That is to say, people who are at the Qiandao Lake High-Speed Railway Station can take these buses directly to such rural scenic areas as the Xiajiang Village Scenic Area, the Shilin Scenic Area and the Jiangjia Scenic Area. These three routes pass through Fengshuling Town, Lishang Township, Shilin Town, Jieshou Village and Jiangjia Town. It will be more convenient for tourists to reach these scenic areas.
