Charming Works of Art 2017-06-27
From today onwards, an exhibition showcasing a wide variety of artworks is on display till the 9th of August at the Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum. 240 art pieces spanning 11 categories by 188 art masters and folk artisans are being exhibited and these include works of carved wood, carved stone, ceramic, reliefs, swords and embroideries. During this period, visitors can also witness folk artisans competing for the ‘Azalea Award’, the ‘Oscar in the field of folk art in Zhejiang Province’.


In addition to the one-month temporary exhibition, visitors can also visit six exhibition halls to explore art from different historical periods of China that are on show the year round and can get creative by personally engaging in making art in the interactive zones, getting fully immersed in the creative wisdom of Hangzhounese.


Located in Qiaoxi Historic Block near Gongchen Bridge close to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Hangzhou Arts & Crafts Museum covers an area of 18,930 sq. m., furnished with six exhibition halls and four characteristic zones. The exhibition halls feature art from various periods made from different media and materials using different techniques, presenting the vibrant and versatile side of Hangzhou’s arts and crafts. Also worth mentioning is the property’s adjacency to the China Knife, Scissors and Sword Museum, the China Umbrella Museum and the China Fan Museum. The four together form one museum complex housing exquisite artworks, picture perfect scenery of the Grand Canal, and traditional architecture that shows local influences. A day spent here is a day spent satisfying one’s aesthetic senses and intellectual thirst.
