Splash! Cooling off in Hangzhou Swimming Pools 2017-06-27
Summer-time means swimming and the perfect time in which to cool off and get exercise during the city’s hottest months. In a hot city like Hangzhou swimming pools are aplenty. So for swimming lovers we’ve assembled a list of some of the best pools in town. All you need to do is to take your pick and then take the plunge!

Chen Jing Lun Natatorium



Address: No. 126, Shuguang Road (曙光路126号)


Chen Jing Lun Natatorium (陈经伦游泳馆) is located opposite the Yellow Dragon Cave inside Chen Jing Lun Sports School and is known for having trained many proficient athletes throughout its history such as Sun Yang, an Olympic and world-record-holding distance swimmer. The venue is home to four swimming pools of different water depths all accommodating different swimmers’ requirements and the perfect place to escape the summer heat.

Zhejiang Technology University Natatorium



Address: No. 16 Chaowang Road (潮王路 16号)


This natatorium is located inside Zhejiang University of Technology in Xiacheng District and is the most advanced and largest of its kind offering teaching, training and competitions. It is equipped with a standard 50 meter swimming pool half of which is dedicated to a deep water area and the other half ranging from 0.9 to 1.16 meters deep provides a venue for kids, entertainment and training. What is also worth mentioning is that the natatorium uses the same brand of water treatment system and heating equipment as the National Aquatics Center – Water Cube, which is the landmark structure of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games which ensures cleanliness, water quality and a comfortable water temperature. Students can enjoy a discount by showing their student ID Cards and swimming training classes are available for different levels of swimmers.

Hangzhou Natatorium

Located inside a huge metal building complex surfing a big wave is the Hangzhou Natatorium (杭州游泳馆). It is definitely an eye-catcher on the north Huancheng Road so you will not be able to miss it. The natatorium is well equipped with one standard swimming pool 25 meters by 50 meters and another 10 meters by 25 meters. The high-end water treatment equipment and German-imported water quality monitoring system guarantees swimmers a safe and sanitary swim. Spacious changing rooms are also provided for plenty of privacy. The swimming venue is open all year round and offers lessons in swimming, water polo and water ballet.

The natatorium is now under renovation and will reopen in late July.

Hangzhou, Soaked in Traditional Chinese Medicine2017-11-21
Traditional Chinese medicine has a time-honored history. As early as ancient times, through the process of struggling with nature, traditional Chinese medicine was created. When searching for food, it was discovered that plants could relieve symptoms, which is the origins of traditional Chinese medicine; hot rocks or sand and earth wrapped up with furs or tree barks eased pain when warming oneself by a fire, which is how moxibustion came into being. It is also during the process of producing tools, that the ancient Chinese discovered the stabbing of some parts of the body can ease the pain of some other parts of the body, and that is how acupuncture come into being.
