The Favourite Picks of the Month 2017-06-27
Fruit picking is a sweet way in which to see in the summer months and a fun day out for all the family. With May crowned as the season for fruit picking - here are the favourite picks of the month:


Cherry

Atop of the list is Cherry also known as the diamond of fruits and a fruity pick for its natural sweetness, high nutritional value and juicy appearance.

Recommended Cherry-picking places:

Zhilan Villa (芷兰庄园)

To ensure their quality the cherries in Zhilan Villa are planted inside. This May sees the first year of their fruition where upon a wealth of varieties including the black pearl cherry can be seen dangling like red diamonds in the sky.

Cherry Picking Fee: 60RMB per person and 45 RMB per child
Purchasing Fee: 35RMB per 500 gram of cherries

Transportation: Take bus No.313 or 348 to Liangzhu Stop (良渚站) and then transfer to No.489 for Xingang Village Stop (新港村站).

Pingyao Daguanshan Orchard (瓶窑大观山果园)

Daguanshan Orchard has an age-long history of cherry cultivation and owns the widest variety of cherries. The cherries produced here are plump and taste both sweet and sour.

Cherry Picking Fee: 60RMB per person and 30RMB for children under seven
Purchasing Fee: 40RMB per 500 gram of cherries

Mulberry

The Mulberry is a fruit largely associated with making jams and tastes the sweetest in May – the best time for ripening. You can buy mulberries from street sellers however for the freshest mulberries in town you had better go direct to the orchards.

Recommended places:

Yulao Farm (鱼佬大农庄)

Like in most mulberry orchards the mulberries in Yulao Farm are planted inside greenhouses and the mulberries here are of high-quality and the service is second to none.

Purchasing Fee: 50RMB per 1500 gram of mulberries

Loquat

Tangxi Ancient Town is historically known as the production area of loquats which were enjoyed in the olden days by emperors as tributes. Today there are many places to enjoy picking and sampling these royal favourites.

Hangzhou, Soaked in Traditional Chinese Medicine2017-11-21
Traditional Chinese medicine has a time-honored history. As early as ancient times, through the process of struggling with nature, traditional Chinese medicine was created. When searching for food, it was discovered that plants could relieve symptoms, which is the origins of traditional Chinese medicine; hot rocks or sand and earth wrapped up with furs or tree barks eased pain when warming oneself by a fire, which is how moxibustion came into being. It is also during the process of producing tools, that the ancient Chinese discovered the stabbing of some parts of the body can ease the pain of some other parts of the body, and that is how acupuncture come into being.
