Dredging to Expand Xianghu Lake Tourism Resort 2019-07-16
The provincial government has approved the city's plan to expand the Xianghu Lake Tourism Resort by 2.4 square kilometers. The project is to be completed by October 2016.

Xianghu Lake grew in popularity thanks to the opening of Metro Line 1. It is as beautiful as the West Lake and has attracted many people to spend a peaceful and relaxing weekend there with a tent.

Zhai Wenbin, a resort official, said the lake used to be much bigger and more beautiful in the past and large-scale dredging can resort the lake to its original grandeur.

He said the Xianghu Lake will eventually line up with the Qiantang River and will become the largest tourist attraction south of the river with the Hangzhou Polar Ocean Park, Hangzhou Amusement Park and other facilities.
