Yuhang District Honey Pear Festival 2017-03-20
Every July is the time for honey pears in Luniao Town, and this year is no exception. This July saw the good harvest of honey pears and witnessed the opening of 2014 Yuhang District Honey Pear Festival. The annual Honey Pear Festival has been held for ten times, with each year offering visitors juicy honey pears and wonderful cultural activities.

 Luniao Town  Honey Pears

The venue of Yuhang Honey Pear Festival is the picturesque Luniao Town (鸬鸟镇), which is sandwiched between Tianmushan Mountain (天目山) and Moganshan Mountain (莫干山). It is the water source of Taihu Lake (太湖) and abundant with undulating mountains. Endowed with a favorable climate, fertile land, abundant sunshine and rainfall, Luniao Town offers a pleasant environment for honey pears to grow. Luniao Town is one of the original producing areas of honey pears. Although it is hard to determine the exact time of Luniao Town beginning the cultivation of honey pears, clues like a wealth of over-100-year-old honey pear trees around in the town show Luniao Town began to cultivate honey pears at least one hundred years ago.

Besides honey pears, Luniao Town is also abundant with tourist resources such as Shangougou Scenic Area (山沟沟风景区) and Xianshan Valley Drifting Area (仙山谷漂流景区).
