2014 Hangzhou West Lake Lotus Show 2017-03-20

2014 Hangzhou West Lake Lotus Show lasts from June 24 to August when lotus flowers are in full bloom. In Chinese culture, lotus flowers have long been the eternal theme of literary works for centuries. Although it grows out from the mud, it’s pure and unstained. It’s Chinese tradition to view lotus flowers, and since ancient times, West Lake has been considered the best place to enjoy lotus flowers. There is even one view about lotus flowers in “Top Ten Views of West Lake”, that is, “Breeze-ruffled Lotus at Quyuan Garden”. At present, the variety of lotus flowers in West Lake has reached 600.

 

 

Besides viewing lotus flowers, a series of colorful activities has been arranged for visitors, such as picking lotus heads, peeling lotus seeds, making dishes out of lotus flowers, enjoying folk opera, floating lotus lanterns to pray etc.

 

Venue:
There are mainly five places to view lotus flowers in West Lake, with “Breeze-ruffled Lotus at Quyuan Garden” and Guo’s Villa as main venues, and Hangzhou Botanical garden, “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon” and Hupao Park as side venues.

 

Transportation:
1. Breeze-ruffled Lotus at Quyuan garden
Take K7 and get off at the stop of Yuewangmiao (岳王庙); or take K4 and get off at the stop of Sudi (苏堤);or 28/K28、82/K82、15/K15 and get off at the stop of Quyuanfenghe (曲院风荷)

 

2. Guo’s Villa
Take 51/52, 194, 197, 318 and get off at Guo’s Villa
