Chengshan Hill is the place where King Goujian of Yue (越王勾践) rallied his force together and defeated King Fuchai of Wu after he was captured and humiliated by King Fuchai of Wu (吴王夫差). Here, visitors can see a large number of historical relics narrating this hard history.
The Wu-Yue Conflict: After King Goujian of Yue was captured in one of the battles. King Fuchai of Wu had King Goujian serve as his servant for three years before he was allowed to return to his native country. After his return, King Goujian of Yue slept on sticks and forced himself to taste gall to remind himself of the humiliations. Later, with great perseverance and tireless industry, he eventually defeated King Fuchai of Wu and annexed the Sate of Wu.
Xiasun Cultural Village 下孙文化村
The village is an ancient village with unique folk customs. Here in the village are preserved the historical relics left by Wu-Yue Conflict. In the Exhibition Hall of Xianghu Lake Culture, Ancestral Hall of Sun, Xianghu Art Gallery and Antique Street can visitors experience the original lifestyle and folk customs of locals.
Kuahuqiao Relics Museum 跨湖桥遗址博物馆
Kuahuqiao Relics Museum is shaped like a ship sailing to the future. The museum is a Kuahuqiao culture-themed one, displaying the archeological findings in Kuahuqiao Historical Site (Kuahuqiao culture is the origin of Zhejiang civilization). Among them is included the No.1 Canoe in China which has a history of over 8,000 years and is believed to be the first canoe ever built in human history. The museum is a must-visit place if you want to understand the history and culture of Xianghu Lake Area.
Lotus Flower Manor 荷花庄
Every June in Lotus Flower Manor, the lotus flowers are in full bloom and cover much of the water surface of the pool. A boundless stretches of pink lotus flowers set off by the green lotus leaves is of exceptional charm in sunny summer day.
Yan’er Garden, otherwise known as Wedding Ceremony Garden, is located in the north of Kuahuqiao Bridge (跨湖桥). It covers an area of 3,400 square meters, displaying the customs and culture of Chinese traditional wedding.
