In 1911, a part of the temporary imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty was dedicated to the library to house Siku Quanshu (四库全书), which had been kept within Wen Lan Pavilion previously. By now Zhejiang Library has a collection of 4.7 million books and remains one of China’s famous libraries with the largest collection. It is especially known for its collection of fine Ming and Qing block-printed editions and rare hand-copied books.
