Brief of Zhexi Grand Canyon
Located within the Qingliang Peak National Natural Reserve (清凉峰国家级自然保护区), western Zhejiang, Zhexi Grand Canyon is a deep canyon with swift rapids and a narrow tourist zone stretching for over 80 kilometers long.
Blessed with the finest landscape and the best-preserved eco system, Zhexi Grand Canyon, the most sparsely populated area in Zhejiang, is also the nearest natural getaway to big metropolises like Shanghai and Hangzhou. It is honored as the best one of its kind throughout Zhejiang province.
The zone is divided into three sections. The first is 18 kilometers long. Otherwise known as Dragon Well Canyon, it runs from Earthen Pagoda (地塔) at Dragon Ridge (龙岗) to a scenic spot called Eight Fairies Pool (八仙潭). The second, known as Upper Stream Canyon, is 26 kilometers long. It goes from Huaguang Bridge (华光桥) to Crown Prince (太子尖). It is the only producing area of China’s national treasure “chicken blood stone” (鸡血石). The third one, Zhemen Canyon, extends from Crown Prince Peak (太子尖) to Maxiaolukou Village (马啸狮石垅村). It is nearly 30 kilometers long.
